- [Coho Festival 2016 A Huge Success](https://cohosalmonsociety.com/?p=845): The morning of Sunday, September 11th the sun was shining… it was going to be a great day for this year’s Coho Festival. The sun was welcomed as it warmed up 434 Coho Runners and just over 100 Coho Swimmers who got started very early and the sign the Coho Festival is well under way. By 11:00am the rest of the festival started buzzing with fabulous music and the amazing displays on the grounds of Ambleside. - [Adopt A Fish](https://cohosalmonsociety.com/?p=121): Coho Society and West Vancouver Streamkeepers will be hosting the annual Adopt a Fish event at the West Vancouver Memorial Library April 22, 2017 from 11am – 1pm. Unlike Pink and Chum salmon who travel to ocean when they are still at the fry stage, Coho salmon stay in their resident creeks for approximately a year before they embark on their migratory journey as juveniles.

The CSNS supports individuals, groups and organizations who engage in projects or initiatives which benefit the conservation and management of salmon and salmon habitat on rivers and streams in North and West Vancouver and in the Howe Sound corridor. The Partnership Grants Program has consistently received more proposals than it can fund each year. Annual extraction of gravel combined with channelization have virtually eliminated stable gravel deposits and left the streambed in a simplified condition that is lacking in the diversity needed for a healthy and productive aquatic ecosystem. In November 2014, an exceptional storm event damaged the Fell Channel (500m off channel habitat) water intake.
