The sun was welcomed as it\u00a0warmed up 434\u00a0Coho Runners and just over 100 Coho Swimmers who got started very early and the sign the\u00a0Coho Festival is well under way. By\u00a011:00am the rest of the festival started buzzing with fabulous music and the amazing displays on the grounds of Ambleside. Children\u00a0started jumping in the Kids Park and Coho Walkers arrived from the trails along the Capilano River.<\/p>\n<p>Before long, the aroma of salmon BBQ filled the air. The afternoon included\u00a0the blessing of the Salmon ceremony, the WV Police took the trophy home for their win at Tug-of-War and two beautiful carvings from the Squamish Nation found new homes. The day was crowned with the live band Chilliwack and\u00a0the Save On Foods Garden was bursting with families, and folks dancing to their famous tunes.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday, September 11th was one of the best Festivals, if not THE best Festival the Coho Society has staged. The estimated crowd was over 9,000.<\/p>\n<p>The festival organizers would like to take this opportunity to thank\u00a0all those people who came out to\u00a0support the cause and stayed to enjoy the day with us.\u00a0This will allow us to\u00a0support the stewardship groups \u00a0who work on\u00a0the protection of the salmon and the surrounding environment as well as educating our future generations.<\/p>\n<p>The committee would like to send\u00a0a thank you to\u00a0all the festival participants, and offer\u00a0their sincere appreciation to all the hard working volunteers.
